Winemaker Notes

Deep garnet in color, notes of ripe blackberries and plums complement undertones of figs, black pepper, and violets. On the palate, it is full-bodied with silky tannins and flavors that unfold into the lush finish.

Pair this wine with Moroccan lamb stew, champignon sauces, grilled venison, or pork chops with a rhubarb-cherry sauce.

Professional Ratings

  • 98 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
This is a smashing success. The Tua Rita 2019 Syrah Per Sempre hits it out of the ballpark thanks to its impressive richness and aromatic intensity. The grapes come from a special growing site with compact galestro soils. These conditions aid in the richness and the concentration of the wine, with its distinctive hints of iron ore, pencil shaving and rust. Those precise aromas frame a deep, dark core of cherry or blackberry confit. This vintage shows some extra fattiness or fruit weight that adds to its power and overall impact. This is a standout bottle from a classic vintage.
  • 98 Wine Enthusiast
Deep, almost brooding blackberries, blueberries, black plum, cigar box and dark chocolate on the nose, but still a certain freshness carries through. Lush, dense fruit continues on the palate but notes of top soil and pepper maintain a lively spiciness picked up and elevated by the heat through the finish. The iconic satin tannins of Tua Rita deliver a mouthfeel somewhere between crème brulee and clouds.
  • 97 James Suckling
Subtle aromas of spice, sweet tobacco leaf and black fruit follow through to a full body with chewy tannins, yet they are fine-grained and intense. Hints of vanilla now. This will come together beautifully. Give it three to four years of bottle time to show its best.
  • 96 Vinous

The 2019 Syrah Per Sempre is a rich, boisterous wine. A burst of dark-toned fruit, spice, new leather, licorice and espresso are all amplified in this decidedly extroverted Syrah. There's a bit more new oak in the 2019, which has changed in the years since. Even so, this has a ton of character.

  • 93 Wine Spectator

Complex, this red features generous black currant, blackberry and violet flavors wrapped in a cloak of spicy new oak. Deftly balanced and supple in texture, with a vibrant feel to the long, resonant aftertaste.

Legendary in Italy for its Renaissance art and striking landscape, Tuscany is also home to many of the country’s best red wines. Sangiovese reigns supreme here, as either the single varietal, or a dominant player, in almost all of Tuscany’s best.

A remarkable Chianti, named for its region of origin, will have a bright acidity, supple tannins and plenty of cherry fruit character. From the hills and valleys surrounding the medieval village of Montalcino, come the distinguished and age-worthy wines based on Brunello (Sangiovese). Earning global acclaim since the 1970s, the Tuscan Blends are composed solely of international grape varieties or a mix of international and Sangiovese. The wine called Vine Nobile di Montepulciano, composed of Prognolo Gentile (Sangiovese) and is recognized both for finesse and power.
