Tierra Divina Old Vine Malbec 2012 Front Label
Tierra Divina Old Vine Malbec 2012 Front Label

Winemaker Notes

Each year, Tierra Divina is a combination of the two best lots from the vintage; normally, both are from the winery's Valle de Uco vineyards. But in 2012 the top vineyard in the wild Valle de Uco and the intimate 100+ year old Perdriel vineyard combined to form a Tierra Divina that is both powerful and lush. The 2012 vintage seemed to be blessed around the globe, with fabulous quality nearly everywhere, and no less so than in Mendoza. The 2012 Tierra Divina displays a touch more depth and complexity and richness than usual, and it is made all the more compelling by the broad framing of lovely Perdriel fruit.

Most distinguished and celebrated from Argentina’s Mendoza, Malbec has seen runaway success since the early 2000s. Mendoza’s agreeable, continental climate with hot, dry summers and cold snowy winters allows the perfect conditions for growing outstanding Malbec. This grape is easy to like for its lusty, deep flavors and aromas of blackberry, plum, red cherry, autumn spice and tilled earth. It’s easy to find delicious, fruit-driven, affordable everyday examples and in prices beyond, quite exceptional ones with dense, supple textures that make them capable of aging.
