Winemaker Notes
Star bright and pale lemon-green in color with a pronounced nose of citrus and pineapple. A powerful fruit-driven wine displaying only light secondary aromas. Medium-bodied with layers of flavor, a dense core, and mineral nuances. Its presence builds and lingers for a long persistent finish that is dry and clean.

The 2022 Sauvignon Blanc leads with tatami mat and straw, soft leaf herbs, pineapple, passionfruit, green apple and honeydew melon. In the mouth, the wine is developing, but it’s still looking good.
Capable of a vast array of styles, Sauvignon Blanc is a crisp, refreshing variety that equally reflects both terroir and varietal character. Though it can vary depending on where it is grown, a couple of commonalities always exist—namely, zesty acidity and intense aromatics. This variety is of French provenance. Somm Secret—Along with Cabernet Franc, Sauvignon Blanc is a proud parent of Cabernet Sauvignon. That green bell pepper aroma that all three varieties share is no coincidence—it comes from a high concentration of pyrazines (herbaceous aromatic compounds) inherent to each member of the family.
Rolling hills evolve from a scenic coastline to form an ideal setting for Sauvignon Blanc vineyards. Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and Chardonnay rank in after New Zealand’s prized varietal as most widely planted in Nelson. The region is slightly cooler and has more precipitation on average compared to Marlborough.
