Winemaker Notes
The nose is fine and delicate, citrus and pear with a slate underbelly. Very harmonious on the palate, creamy citrus, tangerine, limeade and pear mix with a delicate, yet gripping minerality.

Behind the funky and smoky nose is a very elegant wine with a lot of lemon and herbal freshness to balance the taut, muscular body. Great drive at the crisp, long, mineral finish.

The 2019 Frühlingsplätzchen GG is clear and pure yet intense on the nose that reveals notes of dried and stewed apples along with flinty and herbal notes of crushed slate. Full-bodied, lush and round on the palate, this is an intense and saline, crystalline and finely tannic Frühlingsplätzchen with lush and intense fruit and quite a lot of power. 13% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Rating: 93+
Riesling possesses a remarkable ability to reflect the character of wherever it is grown while still maintaining its identity. A regal variety of incredible purity and precision, this versatile grape can be just as enjoyable dry or sweet, young or old, still or sparkling and can age longer than nearly any other white variety. Somm Secret—Given how difficult it is to discern the level of sweetness in a Riesling from the label, here are some clues to find the dry ones. First, look for the world “trocken.” (“Halbtrocken” or “feinherb” mean off-dry.) Also a higher abv usually indicates a drier Riesling.
