Distiller Notes
Produced at Tres Mujeres in Amatitán, Jalisco. 100% Blue Weber cooked in a traditional brick steam oven and milled using mechanical roller mill then fermented in stainless steel. Distilled twice using stainless steel pot stills. Blend of 79% two-year-old Añejo and 21% five-year-old Extra Añejo (NOTE: every batch of Añejo Blend will be slightly different in ratio and barrel).
Translucent medium platinum body with medium high retention tears. In the mouth it has a mellow and botanical impact with aniseed character, notes of green agave, crystallized fig, prune, vanilla and hints of citron predominate.
Because of their great complexity, Anejo Tequilas are most often used as a substitute for Brandy or Whiskey in cocktails like the Manhattan or Old Fashioned. Anejo Tequilas must be aged in oak barrels for between one and three years, while Extra Anejo refers to any Tequila aged longer than three years. The prolonged contact with the oak barrel allows the wood to make a much stronger impression on the Tequila by adding toffee, caramel and vanilla to the sweet, spicy agave flavor profile.
