Redbreast 18 Year Single Pot Irish Whiskey is the latest age statement to join the Redbreast flock. Master Blender David McCabe chose to mature this release in a combination of ex-bourbon barrel and casks seasoned with the finest oloroso sherry, cream sherry and ruby port to elevate Redbreast's Single Pot Still Whiskey to new heights.
The tantalizing addition of cream sherry casks from the esteemed Antonio Páez Lobato cooperage, rarely seen before in Redbreast whiskey, along with the portfolio’s more traditional cask profile, promises a tasting experience both new and familiar.
The result of an historically prohibitive tax placed on malted barley by the English crown, Irish Whiskey is most often produced from a combination of un-malted barley and other grains. Whereas most other Whiskeys are twice distilled, Irish Whiskeys are distilled three times in a column still and must mature in oak barrels for a minimum of three years. These intricate production steps combine to make them lighter, smoother and more approachable than other styles.
