Winemaker Notes
This beauty, is a single vineyard estate grown cabernet, produced by Norma Hunt, owner of the Kansas City Chiefs and proprietor of Bidwell Creek Vineyard's Perfect Season. Made by winemaker Philippe Melka and farmed by Jim Barbour, Bidwell Creek Vineyard is in the Knights Valley AVA. This is a fabulous Cabernet Sauvignon with aromas and flavors of dark cherry, blueberry, baking spice and mocha. The 2019 Red & Gold Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is blended from the same wine lots that go into their flagship Perfect Season Cabernet Sauvignon. Made in a riper and ready to drink now style. As a tribute to her home team and her late husband Lamar, Norma labeled this special bottling after the Kansas City Chiefs home

The result of that hard work and the dedication and artistry of the Perfect Season team was instrumental in achieving our goal to create a wine expressing our unique site and soil. I am grateful for the commitment of Philippe Melka, winemaker, and Jim Barbour, viticulturalist, and their staffs who worked in tandem to bring Perfect Season Cabernet Sauvignon to fruition.
Thank you for being part of the Perfect Season family. We hope you enjoy our wine. Norma Hunt, Vintner

A small and picturesque valley separating Napa Valley on its south border and Alexander Valley to its north, Knights Valley excels in similar varieties as the two aforementioned appellations, namely red Bordeaux varieties and blends, as well as Sauvignon blanc. Originally established by Beringer Vineyards, today several outstanding producers claim acreage here. The circadian cooling effects of the nearby Pacific Ocean create a nighttime respite for vineyards during the hot growing season.

A noble variety bestowed with both power and concentration, Cabernet Sauvignon enjoys success all over the globe, its best examples showing potential to age beautifully for decades. Cabernet Sauvignon flourishes in Bordeaux's Medoc where it is often blended with Merlot and smaller amounts of some combination of Cabernet Franc, Malbecand Petit Verdot. In the Napa Valley, ‘Cab’ is responsible for some of the world’s most prestigious, age-worthy and sought-after “cult” wines. Somm Secret—DNA profiling in 1997 revealed that Cabernet Sauvignon was born from a spontaneous crossing of Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc in 17th century southwest France.
