Penfolds Bin 407 Cabernet Sauvignon 2008 Front Label
Penfolds Bin 407 Cabernet Sauvignon 2008 Front Label

Winemaker Notes

A textbook Cabernet Sauvignon, the varietally expressive Bin 407 highlights the rewards of Penfolds' multi-region, multi-vineyard blending, with a core of ripe fruit supported by a sensitive use of French and American oak.

Bin 407 Cabernet Sauvignon is a fresh, elegant style with clear varietal black currant/cassis aromas, fine grained firm tannins and underlying cedary/savory oak. The deep color, sheen, richness and buoyancy of the wine suggest this could be one of the very best of this series.

This elegant red has a beguiling purity to its currant, plum and cedar flavors, hinting at mint and bay leaf as the finish persists against finely polished tannins. Best from 2013 through 2020.

Since 1844, Penfolds has been grounded in experimentation, curiosity and uncompromising quality. Their success has been driven by a lineage of visionary winemakers. It began with Dr. Christopher and Mary Penfold, the pioneers who dreamed big, inventing tonics, brandies, and fortified wines made from grapes and Australian sunshine. It continued with celebrated winemaking legends including Max Schubert, who pushed the development to extraordinary, bold new heights. It is this pioneering spirit and curiosity that still rings true after nearly two centuries, it is what has helped Penfolds become one of the most celebrated winemakers in the world today.
