Winemaker Notes
Aromas of cassis, mocha and spicy oak introduce this fullbodied Cabernet Sauvignon. Flavors are framed by black plum, toffee, and spice with a touch of dried green herbs. Vanilla notes and minerality harmonize with a rounded finish highlighted by toasted oak and blackberry fruit. Drink upon release or cellar up to ten more years.

This big, broad Cabernet delivers aromas of spiced cherry, black plum, cocoa powder, and black pepper on the nose, with rich, drying tannin providing the structure for a palate with flavors of black berries, Bing cherry compote, graphite, and violets. Give this some time in the cellar or decant for at least an hour.

The 2023 Pedroncelli Brother's Mark Cabernet Sauvignon is a deep ruby expression of Dry Creek Valley. Aged in a mix of French and American oak, it opens with evocative aromas of rustic spice and ripe blackberries. On the palate, it is generous and mouth-coating, delivering layers of dark berry fruit framed by polished tannins. Subtle oak notes of toast and cedar add depth and structure without overshadowing the fruit. This bold yet balanced Cabernet is an ideal companion for a Sonoma-style grilled ribeye topped with Cabernet butter, where the wine’s richness and spice harmonize beautifully with the savory, charred beef and the lush, wine-infused butter. This has earthy, savory, peppery complexity reminiscent of Chianti Classico. Dark, stony fruit flavors like blackberries and grilled plums blend with wood smoke, beef jus and tobacco leaf flavors. Moderate tannins and decent acidity help the texture.

A noble variety bestowed with both power and concentration, Cabernet Sauvignon enjoys success all over the globe, its best examples showing potential to age beautifully for decades. Cabernet Sauvignon flourishes in Bordeaux's Medoc where it is often blended with Merlot and smaller amounts of some combination of Cabernet Franc, Malbecand Petit Verdot. In the Napa Valley, ‘Cab’ is responsible for some of the world’s most prestigious, age-worthy and sought-after “cult” wines. Somm Secret—DNA profiling in 1997 revealed that Cabernet Sauvignon was born from a spontaneous crossing of Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc in 17th century southwest France.
A multifaceted and highly reputable sub-region of Sonoma, Dry Creek Valley is responsible for a wide range of wine styles—both red and white. One of the smallest AVAs in California, Dry Creek Valley has a winning combination of ideal geography and climate. Fertile, well-drained soils create concentrated varietal character while long, warm days, bookended by cool nights, allow grapes to reach full phenolic ripeness and balance. The warm and welcoming appellation is home to a number of family-owned vineyards and wineries that place a strong emphasis on sustainable farming practices.
Zinfandel reigns supreme here and still produces in a great number of very old vineyards—often 100 years old or older. These old vines create a powerful, voluptuous and sultry wine unlike those of any other region. Sauvignon Blanc, the valley’s signature white grape, also performs exceptionally well. Many other varieties grow comfortably here, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache and Syrah. Petite Sirah is often found in blends with Zinfandel.
