A slight oak and vanilla flavor blend with freshly-harvested sugar cane aroma of Neisson Rhum Agricole Eleve Sous Bois. Rich in citrus, fruit and tropical florals, the golden color portends the slightly smoky oak and vanilla finish. Born as Neisson Rhum Agricole Blanc, Eleve Sous Bois gains it's color during 18 months spent in new French oak vats before being bottled at the distillery.

The first nosings find aromas of synthetic cotton; later sniffings pick up vegetal scents of peas and asparagus with a background note of wax floor polish. The palate entry is spirity and lightly toffee-like; the midpalate features accurate tastes of cane, honey, and vanilla bean. Ends on an off-dry note with smooth, biscuity, and grassy flavors.

The distillery produces agricultural rums Neisson receiving the designation of the Controled Martinique Rhum Agricole. An agricultural rum is produced by distilling the juice of sugar cane as opposed to industrial rums coming from the distillation of molasses (residue from the production of cane sugar). The activity of the distillery is the period of harvest of sugarcane, which generally runs from late February to late June The rest of the time, the production equipment is maintained, repaired, so that it is fully operational during the ”harvesting”.
Still a family operation, the distillery is now run by the daughter and grand son of Hildevert-Pamphille Neisson, founder of the distillerie Retour. This little plant can today boast of having preserved its independence as preserving a fragile treasure, at a time when most distilleries are absorbed by large groups. Thus, the distillery Neisson remains an essential reference in quality, authenticity, and unique place in the heart of its loyal customers.
From pirate life on the open sea to Caribbean island paradises, perhaps no other spirit evokes such a romantic history as Rum. Made through fermentation and distillation of molasses or the fresh-pressed juice of sugar cane, Rums range from 20% to over 70% alcohol and come in a variety of tones from clear to dark. Highest quality Rums are generally produced in pot stills and aged in wood, while less expensive Clear or “White” Rums are produced in column stills and bottled without barrel aging. Naturally, Rums form the base of tropical cocktails like Daquiris and Mojitos.
