Winemaker Notes
Dense, saturated color hints at pleasure to come. The heady aroma fills the sense with seductive notes of opulently ripe fruit, cedar and brambles. Subtle hints of cocoa and spice present additional layers of complexity. The promise of the bouquet does not disappoint the palate. The lush entry preceded bramble, mocha, cedar, and cigar notes that are elegantly wrapped around the sweet core. Structurally seamless, tannins coat the mouth and flavors linger long after the last swallow. This wine is testament to the best that Nature can deliver. While elegant and immediately approachable, additional age will endow 1995 Moraga with further nuance and layers of pleasure for years to come.
One of the world’s most classic and popular styles of red wine, Bordeaux-inspired blends have spread from their homeland in France to nearly every corner of the New World. Typically based on either Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot and supported by Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot, the best of these are densely hued, fragrant, full of fruit and boast a structure that begs for cellar time. Somm Secret—Blends from Bordeaux are generally earthier compared to those from the New World, which tend to be fruit-dominant.
