Winemaker Notes
Pale gold in color, the nose is quite savory, with briny oyster shell minerality, salted lemon rind and creamy fresh cheese curd aromas. On the palate the lemon becomes more intense, and is joined by some earthy mushroomy, almond and hazelnut flavours. Lots of umami here, and long, linear acidity on the finish.

This single-vineyard wine is from the oldest vines on the McIntyre's property. Opulent and oak-influenced, it offers aromas of peach, citrus, wild mint, nettles and toasty oak spice. The oak is playing a big part in its structure but isn't dominating flavor-wise. Instead, there's poise and balance between the fruit, acidity and oak, with an inviting tang on the finish. The 2015 The Moorooduc Chardonnay is a very delicate and light style with invigorating grapefruit, lemongrass and white peach notes with touches of marzipan, baking bread and ginger. Light-bodied and lively in the mouth, it has a lovely suggestion of silkiness to the texture and a long, savory finish. Rating: 90+
One of the most popular and versatile white wine grapes, Chardonnay offers a wide range of flavors and styles depending on where it is grown and how it is made. While it tends to flourish in most environments, Chardonnay from its Burgundian homeland produces some of the most remarkable and longest lived examples. California produces both oaky, buttery styles and leaner, European-inspired wines. Somm Secret—The Burgundian subregion of Chablis, while typically using older oak barrels, produces a bright style similar to the unoaked style. Anyone who doesn't like oaky Chardonnay would likely enjoy Chablis.
