Winemaker Notes

A fresh, young fruity wine with some spiciness and hints of red berries, Montes Cherub is seductive, elegant and dry. It has a bright intense pink color. Both on the nose and palate, this Rose has a distinct Syrah character with some spiciness and hints of strawberries and lively floral flavors–mainly roses as well as orange peel. With good fruit concentration it shows richness in texture across the palate that leads to a delightfully long finish.

Magenta in color and spritzy, with aromas of chunky red plum, cherry and citrus. There's nothing off or stinky here, but for some reason it seems a little heavier and less precise than it has been. Look for pink grapefruit, brine and berry flavors and then a long, almost hot finish.

Montes
With the release of the first Montes Alpha wine back in 1988, Montes became one of the first premium wineries of Chile. Their premise, a clear belief that Chile had an untapped potential as a producer of quality wines, made them a benchmark for other wineries to follow. Its original four partners' total involvement and the continuous help of the angels that decorate their labels was key to their success. Two decades later, Montes is the fifth most important winery of Chile where Aurelio Montes continues leading the winemaking area with the same passion as the first day. Hard work and total focus on quality has led Montes to be one of the most successful and respected quality-driven wineries in Chile as they continue pioneering and breaking new grounds in wine.

Napa Valley

The Napa Valley and Cabernet Sauvignon are so intrinsically linked that it is difficult to discuss one without thinking of the other. Although Cabernet has many important outposts throughout the wine world, nowhere else has it achieved such success (and, at the highest end, commanded such lofty prices) than in Napa. Here, it is responsible for bold, opulent, and dark-fruited wines with grippy tannins and a healthy dose of alcohol. The best examples can age for decades. Each of Napa’s smaller sub-AVAs imparts a different character to Cabernet, such as Rutherford’s famous dust or Stags Leap District's tart cherry flavors.
