Winemaker Notes

This Malbec was grown in the La Consulta, in Valle de Uco, Argentina. At 3,000 feet, this exceptionally situated vineyard receives cold breezes from the Andes Mountains, which substantially lower the long, hot daily temperatures. This microclimate contributes to the wine's intense color and aromatics.

Low production and a boutique winery approach, from vineyard management to bottling, allow focusing on the details of winemaking, thereby producing a wine of exceptional quality. The res ult is a wine of boasting distinct fruit notes, intense color, ripe tannins and subtle hints of oak. Profound though not overwhelming fruit aromas are present and the finish is dense with an overall roundness. This wine is distinctive and versatile, and will fit any occasion or food.

Most distinguished and celebrated from Argentina’s Mendoza, Malbec has seen runaway success since the early 2000s. Mendoza’s agreeable, continental climate with hot, dry summers and cold snowy winters allows the perfect conditions for growing outstanding Malbec. This grape is easy to like for its lusty, deep flavors and aromas of blackberry, plum, red cherry, autumn spice and tilled earth. It’s easy to find delicious, fruit-driven, affordable everyday examples and in prices beyond, quite exceptional ones with dense, supple textures that make them capable of aging.
