    Winemaker Notes

While Lynmar Winery's single vineyard Quail Hill Vineyard wines are cellar worthy and benefit from decanting the Russian River wines are immediately enjoyable with a good swirl in the glass. They capture the bright, fresh fruit and the distinctive structure ofRussian River Valley wines plus a layer of complexity from theestate terroir. These qualities make them delicious wines to pairwith vibrant cuisines and fresh ingredients at the table in yourhome or in your favorite restaurant.

Lynmar Estate is situated on a unique and picturesque site with rolling vineyards bordered by the Laguna de Santa Rosa watershed. The vineyard, with vines over forty years old, 15 clones of Pinot Noir and 4 clones of Chardonnay has an array of canopy and rootstock combinations that yield exquisite fruit. Our state-of-the-art, gravity flow winery and caves is an ideal environment for making and aging ultra-premium wine. The gorgeous borders that surround the vineyards attract beneficial insects and hummingbirds, providing a natural barrier from pests.

Our vision is two-fold: (1) to meticulously caretake all the elements of the Estate, and continue to perfect and enhance the nuances of our winemaking, (2) to share it with people from all over the world who come here to have the experience of wine, food and place with a communion of friends, families, and colleagues.

Home to a diverse array of smaller AVAs with varied microclimates and soil types, Sonoma County has something for every wine lover. Physically twice as large as Napa Valley, the region only produces about half the amount of wine but boasts both tremendous quality and variety. With its laid-back atmosphere and down-to-earth attitude, the wineries of Sonoma are appreciated by wine tourists for their friendliness and approachability. The entire county intends to become a 100% sustainable winegrowing region by 2019.

Grape varieties are carefully selected to reflect the best attributes of their sites—Dry Creek Valley’s consistent sunshine is ideal for Zinfandel, while the warm Alexander Valley is responsible for rich, voluptuous Cabernet Sauvignon. Chardonnay and Pinot Noir are important throughout the county, most notably in the cooler AVAs of Russian River, Sonoma Coast and Carneros. Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot and Syrah have also found a firm footing here.
