Winemaker Notes

Aromas of pear blossom, honeysuckle and jasmine. Good mid palate richness associated with significant acidity. The 2010 is on the richer end of the Littorai spectrum and is lovely now.

Pairs well with rich dishes.

RP 94
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2010 Chardonnay Charles Heintz Vineyard is much more typical in this vintage. Orange blossoms, white flowers, mint and jasmine are all layered together in this wine. Rich, voluptuous yet beautifully balanced, the 2010 is rich yet also remarkably polished and well-balanced. The rich, creamy finish makes it impossible to resist a second taste. What a beautiful Chardonnay!
WS 92
Wine Spectator
Delightfully smooth-textured and rich in flavor, with a band of creamy, spicy fig and nectarine flavors that are persistent and subtle.

Littorai Winery Image
Littorai Wines is a small, family owned and operated winery producing world class vineyard designated Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from the true north coast of California: the coastal mountains of Sonoma and Mendocino Counties. Littorai Wines was founded in 1993 by Heidi and Ted Lemon. In July 2008, we completed construction of our winery located between Sebastopol and Freestone in western Sonoma County.

A vast appellation covering Sonoma County’s Pacific coastline, the Sonoma Coast AVA runs all the way from the Mendocino County border, south to the San Pablo Bay. The region can actually be divided into two sections—the actual coastal vineyards, marked by marine soils, cool temperatures and saline ocean breezes—and the warmer, drier vineyards further inland, which are still heavily influenced by the Pacific but not quite with same intensity.

Contained within the appellation are the much smaller Fort Ross-Seaview and Petaluma Gap AVAs.

The Sonoma Coast is highly regarded for elegant Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and, increasingly, cool-climate Syrah. The wines have high acidity, moderate alcohol, firm tannin, and balanced ripeness.

One of the most popular and versatile white wine grapes, Chardonnay offers a wide range of flavors and styles depending on where it is grown and how it is made. While it tends to flourish in most environments, Chardonnay from its Burgundian homeland produces some of the most remarkable and longest lived examples. California produces both oaky, buttery styles and leaner, European-inspired wines. Somm Secret—The Burgundian subregion of Chablis, while typically using older oak barrels, produces a bright style similar to the unoaked style. Anyone who doesn't like oaky Chardonnay would likely enjoy Chablis.
