Winemaker Notes

A nose with bounce and spark, an abundance of lychee, lime and lemon, and guava combine with the aromatics of clove, fennel bulb, thyme and lemongrass. Lively, yet complex; the perfect balance is maintained. The palate is fragrant with presence, poise, layers and textures. Bursting lime, lemon zest, mandarin and gooseberries provide the direction on the palate. The highlight is the mid-palate texture, creating balance and elegant length. Subtle sweet spices thread the aforementioned, coiled by a line of fine acidity.

Professional Ratings

  • 91 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

The 2022 Siblings Sauvignon Blanc leads with snow pea, gooseberry, field mushrooms and cassis, autumnal undergrowth and white tea. It's an interestingly complex amalgam of characters—salted green apples, leafy herbs and briny acidity—that reinforce the wine's excellent value for the money. This wine is 100% Sauvignon Blanc, sourced from selected vineyards on the estate and further south at the Peppy Park Vineyard. Twenty-five percent of the cuvée was fermented and matured in second and third-year oak, for three to four months. Bâtonnage was undertaken post fermentation to work textural complexity into the wine.

Fresh nose of green pears, guavas, lime zest and grapefruits. Medium-bodied with tangy acidity and a vibrant, crunchy array of citrus. Refreshing.

Capable of a vast array of styles, Sauvignon Blanc is a crisp, refreshing variety that equally reflects both terroir and varietal character. Though it can vary depending on where it is grown, a couple of commonalities always exist—namely, zesty acidity and intense aromatics. This variety is of French provenance. Somm Secret—Along with Cabernet Franc, Sauvignon Blanc is a proud parent of Cabernet Sauvignon. That green bell pepper aroma that all three varieties share is no coincidence—it comes from a high concentration of pyrazines (herbaceous aromatic compounds) inherent to each member of the family.

Home to some of Australia’s most elegant and long-lived red and white wines, Margaret River is situated in the farthest reaches of Western Australia. Relatively warm and dry, the region is cooled by breezes from the Indian Ocean. Margaret River takes some inspiration from Bordeaux, producing top-quality Cabernet Sauvignons and Bordeaux Blends with firm structure, mouthwatering acidity, balanced alcohol and notes of herbs and spice. For white wines, refreshing blends of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon as well as complex, age-worthy Chardonnays are regional specialties.
