Introducing Laphroaig Elements, a new series that delves into the artistry of production that makes Laphroaig’s whisky so richly flavoured and characterful. For the first time, Laphroaig offers a look behind the scenes of our whisky making process at our distillery on Islay by revealing the elements that make our whisky unique. To create Elements 1.0, the Laphroaig distillery team were given free rein to produce something unexpected that embodies the Laphroaig profile while adding new dimensions of flavour. There are three experiments that have been brought together to create this unique whisky. Firstly a combination of cloudy and semi-cloudy wort brings forward more tropical notes. Secondly the distillers used both 8.5 and 11-tonne mashes combining the past and present of the distillery production norms and finally the whisky uses 100% Islay malt.
