For Laphroaig's 200 year anniversary, they created a limited edition 16 Year Old expression. It was incredibly well received, so they have decided to release another iteration. This remarkable dram has spent 16 years waiting patiently in ex-Bourbon barrels - giving a leather and vanilla sweetness to complement our signature rich and smoky style. Perfect for the long evenings of late summer and into cozier nights of Autumn. It's remarkable - and the perfect example of how Laphroaig mellows as it matures.
Deep copper color. Sweet leather, oaky spices, vanilla and wood character with gorse flowers and heather fragrance, roasted chestnuts with rich maple syrup, a touch of black pepper. On the palate, sweet with treacle and caramel, Manuka honey and thyme but also intense wood smoke, creosote, lots of floral notes of heather and bergamot, and a chili mouthfeel. The finish is long lasting, smoky, sweet and salted seaweed, medicinal character.
