Winemaker Notes

Vibrant red color with aromas of red cherries, raspberries, and violets wafting from the glass along with notes of toasty oak. On the palate, the fresh berry flavors mingle with spice notes and there's a hint of soft caramel on the finish. This is a creamy, medium-bodied and well-structured wine that is incredibly full of life.

Goes great with everything from hamburgers and chicken to pasta and mild cheeses.

In a world of superripe malbec, once in a while we come across a wine that emphasizes red fruit and tense acidity—without giving up the weight and structure that would place it with the meats of an Argentine asado. This is a selection of vines planted at end of the 1960s in Mendoza, and 2010 may be the best vintage this site has produced to date.

More serious is the 2010 Malbec Angel Paulucci Vineyard, sourced from 38-year-old vines and aged for 14 months in 25% new French oak. Notions of cedar, Asian spices, incense, floral notes, and black cherry lead to a smooth-textured, elegant, spicy offering that delivers outstanding value...

La Posta Winery Video

Argentina’s best small-family growers express their individual passions with single-grower, single-vineyard wines. Each wine named after a grower family demonstrates the wide range of Malbec aroma and flavor profiles generated by distinct Mendoza appellations.

La Posta translates to “the tavern,” where the farmers meet to discuss their soils, their vines, their quest for superior flavors, and their passions for life. In collaboration with wine pioneer Laura Catena and esteemed winemaker Luis Reginato, the hard work and skill of the people behind the wines are expressed in La Posta.

Most distinguished and celebrated from Argentina’s Mendoza, Malbec has seen runaway success since the early 2000s. Mendoza’s agreeable, continental climate with hot, dry summers and cold snowy winters allows the perfect conditions for growing outstanding Malbec. This grape is easy to like for its lusty, deep flavors and aromas of blackberry, plum, red cherry, autumn spice and tilled earth. It’s easy to find delicious, fruit-driven, affordable everyday examples and in prices beyond, quite exceptional ones with dense, supple textures that make them capable of aging.
