Winemaker Notes
A mixture of apples, along with their skins, and orange flesh. Solid acid-driven finish, and beautifully balanced. Soulful texture from cask aging. A leap not forward but down, into truth and foundation. This isn’t a “little” Kabinett anymore.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Entirely fermented in oak, the 2016 Nahe Riesling Münsterer Rheinberg Kabinett is a bit reductive on the nose. On the palate, this is a really piquant and racy Kabinett with a straight character.

This starts of rich and spicy, but becomes more elegant midpalate, which extends to envelop notes of dried pineapple and guava and hints of eucalyptus on the finish. Drink now through 2025.
Riesling possesses a remarkable ability to reflect the character of wherever it is grown while still maintaining its identity. A regal variety of incredible purity and precision, this versatile grape can be just as enjoyable dry or sweet, young or old, still or sparkling and can age longer than nearly any other white variety. Somm Secret—Given how difficult it is to discern the level of sweetness in a Riesling from the label, here are some clues to find the dry ones. First, look for the world “trocken.” (“Halbtrocken” or “feinherb” mean off-dry.) Also a higher abv usually indicates a drier Riesling.
