James Suckling
Lovely aromas of plump black fruit, tobacco leaf and sage. Full-bodied with a lot of lift and refinement on the palate. Fine, well-integrated tannins. Juicy and succulent fruit with so much clarity and elegance. Toasted herbs, ground spice and dried flowers come through, as a more savory character takes over. Delicious. Drink or hold.

Intense, spicy oak flavors win the attention away from good, ripe black-fruit components in this full-bodied and smooth-textured wine blended from different California wine regions. Aged in 75% new French barrels, its black-cherry and almost jammy blackberry notes are wrapped in wood smoke, nutmeg, clove and cinnamon.
