Winemaker Notes

The 2019 Knights Bridge showcases the finesse and varietal intensity that defines the Cabernet Sauvignon of its vintage. It opens with an ethereal bouquet of cassis and Madagascar chocolate, with top notes of lavender blossom. The middle palate is pliant, full, and elegant, showing off the cooler climate of Knights Valley.

This wine pairs beautifully with hearty meat dishes. Enjoy with a grilled New York steak and herb butter or roasted lamb chops with a red wine reduction. For a vegetarian option, try with a truffle or chanterelle mushroom risotto

Quite smooth and supple for a Cabernet, this richly textured and handsomely concentrated wine offers plump blueberries, espresso and black cherry flavors. These are laced with subtle toast and graphite nuances from aging in new oak barrels. Best from 2026–2036.

Deep core with a slight fade at the edge of the glass; solid aromas of dark fruit. Showing notes of cassis, espresso, and smoky oak, the palate is quite generous, with good intensity held up by firm tannins. Extended French oak aging adds refinement and complexity. This is a good cellar candidate for up to another decade. 92

A nearly opaque ruby red, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Knights Valley is ripe and layered with cassis, wooded spices, leather, and pine. Full-bodied, it’s ripe with sweet tannins and has a meaty texture to its notes of black cherry, espresso and turned earth. Drink 2025-2035.

A noble variety bestowed with both power and concentration, Cabernet Sauvignon enjoys success all over the globe, its best examples showing potential to age beautifully for decades. Cabernet Sauvignon flourishes in Bordeaux's Medoc where it is often blended with Merlot and smaller amounts of some combination of Cabernet Franc, Malbecand Petit Verdot. In the Napa Valley, ‘Cab’ is responsible for some of the world’s most prestigious, age-worthy and sought-after “cult” wines. Somm Secret—DNA profiling in 1997 revealed that Cabernet Sauvignon was born from a spontaneous crossing of Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc in 17th century southwest France.

A small and picturesque valley separating Napa Valley on its south border and Alexander Valley to its north, Knights Valley excels in similar varieties as the two aforementioned appellations, namely red Bordeaux varieties and blends, as well as Sauvignon blanc. Originally established by Beringer Vineyards, today several outstanding producers claim acreage here. The circadian cooling effects of the nearby Pacific Ocean create a nighttime respite for vineyards during the hot growing season.
