Distiller Notes

Kelt Petra is the Kelt family cognac of choice for family occasions and celebrations. Named Petra after the daughter of the founder, Mr. Olev Kelt, it is the cognac used for all family occasions such as marriages, anniversaries of major holidays. Whenever the family has something important to celebrate – drink Petra.

The blend is made in such a way that it can be reproduced for many generations to come through the insightful purchases of extremely old cognacs by the founder Mr. Kelt over a period of 30 years. Even so, supply is limited and it is one of the rarest cognacs on the market today.

Once the blending is completed Kelt embarks on the Tour du Monde. This is the legendary 3 month Ocean Maturation exclusive to Kelt which brings out hidden qualities in the Limousin oak and rounds off the cognac in a beautiful and unique way making the Kelt cognac the smoothest on the market while presenting a remarkably broad pallet of tastes and aromas.

Kelt uses their extensive experience and stock of Limousin oak barrels in the most creative way to get the maximum effect from the Ocean Maturation. For the Petra they use barrels of between 22-28 years of a particular quality and history. The exact composition and details are a closely guarded secret known only to two persons within the company.

The blending and Tour du Monde together with its rarity puts the Petra in the extreme luxury and collectors category.

Widely regarded as the finest and most complex grape-based spirit in the world, Cognac follows rigorously strict production guidelines. It is made exclusively of wine—most commonly from Ugni Blanc—from the Charente and Charente-Maritime regions surrounding the town of Cognac in southwestern France. After a second distillation in antique copper pot stills (called charentais), the spirit is transferred to French oak barrels and aged a minimum of two years (VS). Cognac is classified by both age and region (Cru). The Grande Champagne Cru and Petite Champagne Cru, both having shallow limestone soils, are the most respected.
