The original tequila from 1795! Jose Cuervo Tradicional Reposado is a multiple award winning, 100% blue agave tequila. 100% estate-grown blue agave plants are slow cooked in clay adobe ovens and then doubled distilled in small, artisanal stills and then aged in oak barrels for a minimum of two month yielding a smooth and subtly complex tequila. Produced the same traditional way in La Rojena—the oldest distillery in Latin America—for the past 11 generations. Tradicional is produced using the method originated by José Antonio de Cuervo himself.

A solid cocktail choice, this 100% agave Tequila has rich, rounded vanilla and zingy peppery notes followed by a dry cocoa accent on the finish. The bottle is a stunner, with its yellow, red and black Day of the Dead graphic that's meant to be frozen to bring out additional thermochromic details. (It's a bit of overkill—the bottle is plenty eye-catching at room temperature.)
Tequila Reposado refers to Tequilas that have been ‘rested’, or aged, in oak barrels for a minimum of two months but not more than one year. Depending on the specific flavors a tequilero wishes to impart on the spirit, a variety of different barrels may be used, from Brandy and Bourbon, to Wine and Sherry. The time spent on the wood allows Reposado Tequilas to mellow as they age, softening and rounding powerful flavor components brought by the agave and marrying them to subtle notes of caramel and vanilla brought by the barrel itself.
