Winemaker Notes

This is a serious and stylish sauvignon blanc with quality parallels to the very best Pouilly Fume from the Loire Valley, France. The 2002 Sauvignon Blanc exhibits classic Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc aromas of red capsicum, melon and nectarine. The palate is soft and textured with citrus and tropical fruit flavors and a long, clean finish.

This is a deliciously fresh and intense wine with incredible depth and complexity.

Hunter's Winery Image
Jane Hunter, OBE, has been owner, viticulturist and managing director of one of New Zealand's better known wineries - Hunter's Wines - since 1987. During this time she has won national and international acclaim for her contribution to the New Zealand wine industry, expanded her vineyard 2½ times and increased annual output to around 40,000 cases of wine, a third of which is exported.

Recognized for its distinctively herbaceous and aromatic, Sauvignon Blanc, New Zealand is perfectly suited to the grape with its maritime climate, plenty of rainfall and abundant sunshine. Producers have almost unilaterally embraced cutting-edge winery technology, resulting in clean, high-quality wines at every price point from wallet-friendly to premium. Sauvignon blanc is at its best in Marlborough but thrives throughout as the country. It is New Zealand’s most planted and successful variety, also accounting for an overwhelming majority of its exports.
