Winemaker Notes
David Hirsch was inspired to create the Bohan-Dillon Pinot Noir as an homage to the great village wines of France: a wine full of place and personality, made with the same attention and integrity as the top wines, yet at an incredible price.
It is fresh and energetic, with notes of sweet strawberries, orange peel and bergamot.

A killer value, the 2021 Pinot Noir Bohan Dillon is a lot of wine, with an expressive perfume of wild raspberry, lavender, fresh herbs, and soil. It’s medium-bodied, with fantastic balance, refreshing acidity, notes of black raspberry and baking spice, and a long finish. This is a lovely and exceptional wine.

The 2021 The Bohan-Dilon Pinot Noir is a blend of fruit from three vineyards in western Sonoma: Hirsch, Heintz and Hellenthal. It has slowly unfurling scents of raspberry preserves, saline, licorice, cinnamon, tea leaves and orange peel. The medium-bodied palate is bursting with berry, earth and floral layers. It has an alluringly silky texture, mouthwatering acidity and a long, layered finish. It's a notably expressive version of Bohan-Dillon and one you could cellar over the next decade.
The Sonoma Coast AVA is large in area but, not counting overlapping regions like Russian River Valley, only has a few thousand acres of grapevines—and it’s no wonder. Much of the region is rugged and not easily accessible. Its proximity to the Pacific Ocean’s fog and cool breezes limits the varieties that can be cultivated, but it proves to be an ideal environment for high quality Pinot Noir.
Since fog is a frequent fact of life here, as are heavy marine layers that sometimes bring rain, the best vineyards are wisely planted above the fog line, on picturesque ridges that capture enough sun to provide even ripening. That, with the overnight drop in temperature that reliably preserves acidity, results in fine expressions of Pinot Noir that often receive tremendous critic and consumer praise alike, and are often in high demand.
