Groot Constantia Shiraz 1997

A superb variety and very underrated, this is undeniably one of the most impressive red wines. Lovely densely deep ruby colour, with an intense smoky, peppery character with loads of elegant flavours. Extended skin contact (1 week). Matured (12 months) in new wood as well as re-shaved and re-toasted third fill and x-Chardonnay barrels. Can be enjoyed now, but will definitely benefit from further bottle maturation.
