Distiller Notes
Sweet, rich scents of honey, mead, toffee and baking bread entwine with aromatic tea leaves. Then comes a subtle, perfumed top note of stewed herbs and red fruits, followed by milk chocolate hints. A splash of water releases wood incense, roasting chestnuts and muscovado sugar. A rich, oily texture brings sultanas, raisins and dates bursting on to the palate. Mandarin orange, milk chocolate, honey and more brown sugar come to the fore, beautifully woven with vibrant citrus. Then cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and star anise emerge, before hazelnut, honey and gentle oak shine through in a long, mellow finish.

After spending 17 years as a whisky distiller, William Matheson left his job and sought to start his own distillery. His vision was to create an exceptional, exquisitely smooth whisky.
In 1843, his vision became a reality when he took over the Morangie farm and founded Glenmorangie.
Originally 16 men, an unbroken chain of experts worked together to craft Glenmorangie through the centuries. These men passed down their knowledge and expertise of the heralded Single Malt from generation to generation. This time-honored tradition preserved the quintessential Single Malt of Scotland.
In the far north of Scotland, near the ancient Royan Burgh of Tain, lies Glenmorangie. 'The Glen of Tranquility' where malt whisky has been distilled since it began. The distillery has an air of timelessness; the methods and craft they employ today differ little from those of their forbears.

Today Single Malt Scotch Whiskies are prized by enthusiasts and aficionados the world over for their rarity, age and complexity. By definition these must be produced in Scotland from a single distillery and made entirely from malted barley, using a pot still. The appearance, aroma and flavor of a Single Malt Scotch Whisky can vary widely depending on whether it was produced in the Highlands, Lowlands Islands, Speyside, Islay or Campbelltown regions.
