Distiller Notes

Cake is for celebrating wonderful moments, and for sharing with friends. It offers a slice of indulgence. Dr. Bill's mission was to capture the joy of the perfect slice of cake in liquid form. This lead him to create a deliciously sweet and mellow Glenmorangie, finished in Hungarian Tokaji casks, that are famous for being one of the sweetest wines in the world, and a perfect pairing with desserts.

A deep copper color. On the nose, a burst of passion fruit, peach, pear, and mango. More savory notes like baking bread, gentle sappy oak and a curious, flinty minerality emerge. Followed by honeycomb, vanilla and almond, with a hint of milk chocolate. A luscious and tart mouthfeel, leading into a burst of sweet, cake-like flavors – honey, white chocolate, apricot, almond, vanilla and pear.

Glenmorangie Winery Video

After spending 17 years as a whisky distiller, William Matheson left his job and sought to start his own distillery. His vision was to create an exceptional, exquisitely smooth whisky.

In 1843, his vision became a reality when he took over the Morangie farm and founded Glenmorangie.

Originally 16 men, an unbroken chain of experts worked together to craft Glenmorangie through the centuries. These men passed down their knowledge and expertise of the heralded Single Malt from generation to generation. This time-honored tradition preserved the quintessential Single Malt of Scotland.

In the far north of Scotland, near the ancient Royan Burgh of Tain, lies Glenmorangie. 'The Glen of Tranquility' where malt whisky has been distilled since it began. The distillery has an air of timelessness; the methods and craft they employ today differ little from those of their forbears.

“A good gulp of hot Scotch Whisky at bedtime–it’s not very scientific, but it helps!”

Alexander Fleming, Scottish inventor of penicillin, prescribed it as a cure for the common cold. Today Single Malt Scotch Whiskies are prized by enthusiasts and aficionados the world over for their rarity, age and complexity. By definition these must be produced in Scotland from a single distillery and made entirely from malted barley, using a pot still. The appearance, aroma and flavor of a Single Malt Scotch Whisky can vary widely depending on whether it was produced in the Highlands, Lowlands Islands, Speyside, Islay or Campbelltown regions.
