Distiller Notes

This whisky is produced in limited quantities and distilled from a slightly peated malt. It has been aged in Sherry, Cognac and Sauternes casks. The Sauternes casks gives a round, fruity and mellow whisky, with notes of ripe fruits and a touch of Sherry.

Candied orange and nut on the nose. The mouth is fruity and syrupy. A finish of ripe fruits with a smoky touch.

Professional Ratings

  • 92 Whisky Advocate

Distilling has been in the Grallet-Dupic family for 150 years. With the influence of sauternes casks, this great value whisky develops a lovely richness with a nose of dates, strawberry, raspberry, passion fruit, dried apricot, hard candy, and mandarin segments in Jell-O. This barrels through flavors of dark orange, mandarin, coffee, after-dinner chocolates, cocoa, black cherry, and bramble, and leaves behind a slow burn with flashes of mint and chocolate.

What Whiskey will not cure, there is no cure for.

Coming in a multitude of styles depending on its origin, Whisk(e)y’s flavors range across the board from the sweet, caramel and vanilla-dominated American Bourbons to the briny, peat-heavy Islay Single Malts from Scotland. Though production methods differ widely, all Whiskeys are made by distilling beer made from some type of grain, such as barley, corn, wheat or rye. After the distillation process is complete, the new, clear spirit is transferred to wooden casks where it matures, a process that can take up to thirty years or more.
