Winemaker Notes

Aromas of fresh, juicy blackberries, violet and iris, as well as rich ground cardamom with a hint of rosemary. Smooth on entry, the palate is concentrated with dense, fine-grained tannin and a persistent finish. With every taste, this Cabernet demonstrates that it is truly a product of the site. A sensorial promenade of harvest at Fisher Vineyards: from the uber-ripe blackberries along our childhood home in the mountains, to aromas of freshly fallen plums and fresh-cut avenues of dried cover crops. Ever present at the winery is the waft of rosemary from giant, woody hedges that line our drive and pathways. Alluring and elegant floral overtones of violet and iris mark this site and this wine as one of a kind.

Blend: 95% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc

The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Wedding Vineyard is striking in its beauty. A deep, implosive wine, the 2010 wraps around the palate with blue and black fruit, menthol, tobacco, licorice and violets. A surprisingly soft and seamless wine for the year and this Sonoma site, the 2010 is endowed with superb balance, depth and integrity of fruit. This is another beautiful wine loaded with character and personality. The 2010 is 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2030.

While Sonoma County is acclaimed—and rightfully so—for its Chardonnays, Pinot Noirs, and Zinfandels, it also produces exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon. Of the region’s 18 American Viticultural Areas, only a handful produce top-notch Cabernet Sauvignon. These appellations include Alexander Valley, Knights Valley, Sonoma Valley and Dry Creek Valley. Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignons made in these appellations can offer a complex array of aromas and flavors. Fruit notes such as blackberry, blackcurrant, cassis, black cherry and raspberry often are accompanied by hints of graphite, dusty earth, cigar box, toast and vanilla. The varietal has a rich history in Sonoma, and some of these Cabernet Sauvignons and Cabernet-based blends rival the best from Napa Valley.
