Winemaker Notes

An elegant, deep and intense color, a harbinger of a concentrated wine. The nose is elegant and reveals a particularly refined Mediterranean character, harmoniously blending notes of red fruit and spice. The palate, remarkably delicate, opens with a round and soft attack, then unveils a beautiful freshness that delicately balances the complexity and lusciousness of garrigue and crisp red fruit aromas, supported by a structure of fine, elegant tannins. A perfectly balanced and harmonious wine, combining finesse, freshness, and character.

Professional Ratings

  • 92 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
A blend of equal parts Syrah—matured in large barrels—and Grenache Noir, the 2023 Vinsobres Les Cornuds is crafted from vines rooted at 400 meters in altitude. It opens with a perfumed, fresh bouquet of dark berries, mulberries and flowers. Medium- to full-bodied, tensile and lively, it’s built around bright acids and good depth at the core, concluding with a long, fruity finish. This is a compelling effort.

  • 91 James Suckling

Chalky, focused and precise, showing cherries, red berries, dried herbs and stones on the nose. It's medium-bodied with chalky tannins. Crunchy fruit plus a lift of peppercorns bring verve and energy. Persistent, spicy finish. Drink or hold.

  • 91 Wine Spectator

Lush with good energy to match the generosity of the cherry and plum ripeness, underscored by chalky mineral elements. Red tea tannins keep a light grip on the salty, well-balanced finish, marked by sandalwood smoke and potpourri. Pretty and appealing. Grenache and Syrah.

Somm Secret—Putting their own local spin on the Rhône Red Blend, those from Priorat often include Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. In California, it is not uncommon to see Petite Sirah make an appearance.
