A fruity and refined wine with blackberry, black-chocolate and subtle berry and spice character. Medium body, medium tannins and a succulent finish. 65% merlot, 20% cabernet franc and 15% cabernet sauvignon. Mostly from grapes of Castillon with some vats from top estates. Delicious now, but can age.

Already complex and beautifully open, the 2019 Esprit De Pavie has a vibrant, medium-bodied, spicy style as well as classic red and black cherry and currant fruits, leafy herbs, and floral nuances. It's beautifully balanced, has fine tannins, no hard edges, and outstanding length.

A fresh version, with cassis and bitter plum flavors that stretch out nicely, this is flecked with savory and violet notes along the way. The slightly taut structure adds some length.

In most of France, wines are named by their place of origin and not by the type of grape (with the exception of Alsace). Just like a red Burgundy is by law, always made of Pinot noir, a red Bordeaux is a blended wine composed mainly of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Depending on the laws of the village from which the grapes come, the conditions of the vintage and decisions of the winemaker, the blend can be further supported by Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Petit Verdot and in rare cases, Carmenere. So popular and repeated has this mix of grape varieties become worldwide, that the term, Bordeaux Blend, refers to a wine blended in this style, regardless of origin.
