Winemaker Notes

Deep red-black with violet edges, this Malbec offers aromas of raisins and coffee with light herbaceous notes. On the palate, mature and vibrant notes combine with firm and sweet tannins. The wine is concentrated and elegant.

Great with traditional Argentine red meat dishes as well as hard cheeses and smoked cold cuts.

Professional Ratings

  • 92
Far from the traditional style of heavy, ripe malbec from Salta, this is filled with violet and sour cherry notes, the structure tense, firm and nervy in its acidity. A lively wine to serve with barbecued ribs.
  • 90
Minerally, with dense yet refined flavors of dried red berry, currant and hot stone that are bounded by concentrated sanguine accents. Dried beef and sandalwood notes show on the refined finish. Drink now through 2021.

Most distinguished and celebrated from Argentina’s Mendoza, Malbec has seen runaway success since the early 2000s. Mendoza’s agreeable, continental climate with hot, dry summers and cold snowy winters allows the perfect conditions for growing outstanding Malbec. This grape is easy to like for its lusty, deep flavors and aromas of blackberry, plum, red cherry, autumn spice and tilled earth. It’s easy to find delicious, fruit-driven, affordable everyday examples and in prices beyond, quite exceptional ones with dense, supple textures that make them capable of aging.
