Winemaker Notes
This wine offers expressive acidity with an amazing rush of green, granny apple and fresh-plucked verbena leaves. Traditional, stately Spatlese with an incredible wealth of fruit aromas and, despite its impressive concentration, an ephemeral grace and elegance.

All of nature's springtime joy and the epitome of autumnal ripeness somehow combine with summer-morning dew to offer one of the greatest off-dry German wines made in modern times. Breathtaking finish, so wonderfully light and filigree. From organically grown grapes with Fair'n Green certification.

The 2019 Riesling Spätlese Niederhäuser Hermannshöhle is ripe and intense as well as precise and flinty on the bright and elegant nose. Juicy yet very fine and elegant on the crystalline and lithe palate, this is a highly refined and stimulating Spätlese of great finesse and precision.
Barrel Sample: 93-95
Riesling possesses a remarkable ability to reflect the character of wherever it is grown while still maintaining its identity. A regal variety of incredible purity and precision, this versatile grape can be just as enjoyable dry or sweet, young or old, still or sparkling and can age longer than nearly any other white variety. Somm Secret—Given how difficult it is to discern the level of sweetness in a Riesling from the label, here are some clues to find the dry ones. First, look for the world “trocken.” (“Halbtrocken” or “feinherb” mean off-dry.) Also a higher abv usually indicates a drier Riesling.
