Don Miguel Gascon Presidents Blend Malbec 2003 Front Label
Don Miguel Gascon Presidents Blend Malbec 2003 Front Label

Winemaker Notes

Almost a century ago, Bodegas Escorihuela Gascon created the first varietal Malbec blend to acquire wedspread recognition in Argentina. This wine was a favorite of two time president and husband of Evita, Juan Peron. The wine is named in honor of him. The grapes come from the best growing areas in Mendoza (Chile's Napa Valley).

"Anyone looking for a whole lot of wine for not too much cash will be pleased with this blend, named for former Argentinean president Juan Perón, husband of Evita. Back to the wine: it's rich, heady and borderline opulent, with ripe tannins, plumpness and hedonistic fruit." -Wine Enthusiast, Editor's Choice

Blend: 85% Malbec, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Syrah

Most distinguished and celebrated from Argentina’s Mendoza, Malbec has seen runaway success since the early 2000s. Mendoza’s agreeable, continental climate with hot, dry summers and cold snowy winters allows the perfect conditions for growing outstanding Malbec. This grape is easy to like for its lusty, deep flavors and aromas of blackberry, plum, red cherry, autumn spice and tilled earth. It’s easy to find delicious, fruit-driven, affordable everyday examples and in prices beyond, quite exceptional ones with dense, supple textures that make them capable of aging.
