Distiller Notes
Don Eduardo Anejo Tequila is distilled from 100% blue agave and aged two years. Most anejos are aged in barrels that have been previously used for rum, brandy or even other tequilas; Don Eduardo Anejo is aged exclusively in used White American Oak bourbon barrels.
The control of origin use of the selected barrels ensures that Don Eduardo attains and maintains a consistently higher level of quality. The toasted and charred barrels produce a naturally colored and flavored anejo.
This tequila is a pale yellow with a straw cast. Offers spicy aromas and flavors of agave, dried herbs, and sandalwood. The finish is smooth, clean, and dry.
Proof: 80
Because of their great complexity, Anejo Tequilas are most often used as a substitute for Brandy or Whiskey in cocktails like the Manhattan or Old Fashioned. Anejo Tequilas must be aged in oak barrels for between one and three years, while Extra Anejo refers to any Tequila aged longer than three years. The prolonged contact with the oak barrel allows the wood to make a much stronger impression on the Tequila by adding toffee, caramel and vanilla to the sweet, spicy agave flavor profile.
