The 2019 Bourgueil Jour De Soif displays a dark purple-red color and offers intense cherry, blackcurrant, rye bread and mocha notes on the crystalline and refreshing stony bouquet. Silky, fresh and elegant on the palate, this is an intense, round, sweet and juicy yet refined and stimulating red for immediate pleasure, yet it also has the structure to age for up to a decade. Highly stimulating, with fine and fruity tannins and the tart finish of black (sour) cherries. Tasted in May 2021.
Cabernet Franc, a proud parent of Cabernet Sauvignon, is the subtler and more delicate of the Cabernets. Today Cabernet Franc produces outstanding single varietal wines across the wine-producing world. Somm Secret—One of California's best-kept secrets is the Happy Canyon appellation of Santa Barbara. Here Cabernet Franc shines as a single varietal wine or in blends, expressing sumptuous fruit, savory aromas and polished tannins.
On the north bank of the Loire Valley in the western end of the greater Touraine region, Bourgueil makes a sturdy and aromatic Cabernet Franc.
