Winemaker Notes

This wine has all the charms you may expect of a great Malbec from Cahors. An intense and generous bouquet, marked by black fruits, spices and aromatic plants. A fleshy and juicy palate, with roundness, great freshness, and a young and precise tannin structure, revealing some sweet notes of wood aging: chocolate, roasted hazelnuts... A tasty and serious wine, to be enjoyed now after a good decanting or to keep for many years so it reveals all its finesse and richness.

Blend: 100% Malbec

A vineyard on the third-highest terrace above the River Lot produces a 100% Malbec wine with powerful tannins and dense black-plum flavors. Wood aging gives polish to this wine while never losing the tannic structure. Needs to age, so drink from 2026.

Attractive nose of tea leaves, plums, mocha and violets. It’s juicy and deliciously fruity with a medium to full body, medium-firm tannins and a creamy finish. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.

Celebrated for its bold flavors and supple texture, Malbec has enjoyed runaway success in Argentina since the late 20th century. The grape originated in Bordeaux, France, where it historically contributed color and tannin to blends. A French agronomist, who saw great potential for the variety in Mendoza’s hot, high-altitude landscape, brought Malbec to Argentina in 1868. Somm Secret—If you’re trying to please a crowd, Malbec is generally a safe bet with its combination of dense fruit and soft tannins.

Within the Southwest of France, this is the one region outside of Argentina that is today almost exclusively dependent on Malbec. Locally the variety is called Cot, and makes a dense, earthy and black fruit dominant red wine. Both the Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean both have a strong influence on the climate of this region.
