he 2021 Château de Pibarnon Bandol Rouge Restanques de Pibarnon presents a light to medium ruby hue and opens with expressive aromas of dark fruits layered with subtle earthy undertones. On the palate, it is steady and well-structured, delivering bold, ripe fruit flavors balanced by a touch of earthiness. A natural partner for grilled lamb chops, and equally compelling with the Provençal classic côtelettes d’agneau grillées aux herbes de Provence, where rosemary, garlic, and olives accentuate the wine’s savory depth and southern character. In California, it is not uncommon to see Petite Sirah make an appearance.

Provence’s leader in concentrated and age-worthy red wines, Bandol is home to the dense, deep and earthy Mourvèdre grape. Like Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Bandol produces characterful reds that, while approachable in their youth, are typically designed for the cellar.

Given its coastal, Provencal situation, Bandol also naturally produces an assortment of charming, aromatic rosés made of Mourvèdre, Grenache and Cinsault.
