Château Beaulieu is a beautiful and historic estate that was home to the Counts of Provence dating back to 1576.  Since Henri III was King of France in 1579, it has belonged successively to all the great families of Provence, who took care to preserve its exceptional land.

Nestled in the heart of Provence and within the region’s only volcano, Trevaresse, the estate lies just a few kilometers away from Aix-en-Provence and sits at a high altitude of 1,200 feet. Facing the Lubéron and overlooking the Durance valley, Silvacane Abbey and La Roque d’Anthéron, the vineyard has an extremely diverse range of soils.

With 432 acres of vines, Château Beaulieu is the largest estate in AOP Coteaux d’Aix-en-Provence.  One of its vineyards is 345-acre in size and is the largest single vineyard in Aix-en-Provence. Vineyard management and winemaking is 100% estate and under our control, led by master blender and renowned winemaker Stéphane Derenoncourt

In most of France, wines are named by their place of origin and not by the type of grape (with the exception of Alsace). Just like a red Burgundy is by law, always made of Pinot noir, a red Bordeaux is a blended wine composed mainly of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Depending on the laws of the village from which the grapes come, the conditions of the vintage and decisions of the winemaker, the blend can be further supported by Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Petit Verdot and in rare cases, Carmenere. So popular and repeated has this mix of grape varieties become worldwide, that the term, Bordeaux Blend, refers to a wine blended in this style, regardless of origin.
