Distiller Notes
Calumet Farm 15 Year Bourbon showcases a dark golden amber appearance, with a nose that combines warm vanilla and oak spice notes with dark red fruit compote and caramel sauce. On the palate, it offers fruit-forward flavors of cherries and apricots mingling with peppery spice notes and a hint of mint. The sweeter side is highlighted by scorched caramel and lady fingers, balanced by powerful tannins like oak, tobacco leaf, and musty leather. The finish is moderately long, leaving behind tannins of oak and leather, with a touch of dark chocolate and a bit of alkalinity.
Although Bourbon may be produced anywhere in the United States, it is most commonly associated with Bourbon County, Kentucky, where it has been produced since the late 18th century. Made from a mash bill containing at least 51% corn, the Bourbon Whiskey distillate must be aged in new, charred white oak barrels. Bourbon Whiskeys are bottled at eighty proof (40% abv) or higher and cannot contain any added color or flavor. A versatile spirit that can be sipped neat, with water or on the rocks, it also performs nicely added to cocktails like the Old Fashioned.
