Brora 34 Year Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky 2017 Front Bottle Shot
Brora 34 Year Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky 2017 Front Bottle Shot

Distiller Notes

Deep gold, with good beading and slow legs. On the nose, at first maritime and mineral, with dried seaweed. Then a wave of flavours suggest a cider farm's workshop in springtime. Finally, sweet flavours roll in with green leaves, all on a faintly waxy base. The waxy texture for which Brora is renowned starts sharper than you expect, with fruit, chili and fresh-ground black pepper. As the heat subsides, fruity dark chocolate and soft barrel-char smoke appear. Some spice in the finish as aniseed slowly fade to leave sweet-spicy oak. With a final quick burst of black pepper and sweet fruit.

“A good gulp of hot Scotch Whisky at bedtime–it’s not very scientific, but it helps!”

Alexander Fleming, Scottish inventor of penicillin, prescribed it as a cure for the common cold. Today Single Malt Scotch Whiskies are prized by enthusiasts and aficionados the world over for their rarity, age and complexity. By definition these must be produced in Scotland from a single distillery and made entirely from malted barley, using a pot still. The appearance, aroma and flavor of a Single Malt Scotch Whisky can vary widely depending on whether it was produced in the Highlands, Lowlands Islands, Speyside, Islay or Campbelltown regions.
