Notes of dark cherries and red currants with spices, chocolate and tree bark undertones. Medium-bodied with juicy acidity and firm, chalky tannins. A little chewy but fresh and attractive. Try after 2026.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Packaged with the black label, the Boroli 2019 Barolo Brunella draws its fruit from a choice vineyard site in Castiglione Falletto. This wine shows great balance between dark fruit, mineral and spice. It gives equal billing to all these important aromatic pieces to create nice harmony with long-lasting effects. Brunello also tends to show the most structure and fruit weight among these new releases.

Wine Spectator
A lush Barolo marked by ample, ripe fruit in the form of black cherry and plum, accented by licorice, earth, mineral and menthol notes. Firms up nicely on the finish, remaining balanced and long. Needs time. Best from 2027 through 2046.
Attracting the most glory, prestige and fame to the Piedmont region, Nebbiolo in all of its expressions—Barolo, Barbaresco, Roero, Ghemme and Gattinara—creates a complex wine, truly unique for its delicate qualities combined with strength and a great potential to improve over time.
But Nebbiolo isn’t all there is to red wine from Piedmont! Barbera is the most planted variety and historically most popular as a dependable, food-friendly, everyday wine.
Beyond these two, a surprising number of red varieties call Piedmont their home. Worth a try include Dolcetto for its bold concentration and aromas of spice cake. Other grapes to investigate include Freisa, Croatina, Brachetto, Grignolino and Pelaverga.
