Winemaker Notes
This Non-Alcoholic white wine begins as 100% Organic Verdejo, produced from the Gil Family Estates' own vineyards in Rueda (Spain). Then the wine undergoes a thorough low-temperature de-alcoholization process at a new facility specifically designed within Bodegas Juan Gil to produce this 0.0% ABV wine. Low-temperature de-alcoholization ensures that the wine retains the original aromas and flavors of the Verdejo grape, while only removing the alcohol.
The resulting wine is reminiscent of Verdejo on the nose and palate and is a wonderful pairing with seafood, chicken, salads, cheeses and pasta dishes.
Vegan-Friendly
Captivating and full of character, Verdejo grows with great success in Rueda, Spain and virtually nowhere else in Europe. It has become so trendy in Spain since the turn of the century that plantings have also increased tremendously. Somm Secret—Contrary to what some may think, it is actually not related to the Portugese variety with a very similar name, Verdelho. In fact, DNA profiling suggests it may be a sibling of Godello, another native of NW Spain.
Famous for the robust and earthy, black-fruit dominated, Monastrell (known as Mourvedre in France), Jumilla is an arid and hot region in southeastern Spain. Its vine yields tend to be torturously low but this can create wines of exceptional intensity and flavor. Quality combined with accessible price points give the region great recognition on international markets far and wide.
The reds from Jumilla are heady and spicy, packed with fruit and show aromas of dried licorice and herbs. If you like Syrah, Grenache or Pinot noir, a red wine from Jumilla would be a perfect next choice!
