Winemaker Notes

Our newest Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon follows in the path of its predecessors, with a richness and depth that can't be matched. The nose displays hints of blackberry, creme de cassis and dark chocolate, and leads to flavors of black cherry, plum and vanilla bean. The rich velvety tannins lead to an elegant and long finish.

Critical Acclaim

RP 93
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The deep garnet-purple colored 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve opens with intense crushed blackberries and black plums with touches of dried herbs, earth and cardamom plus a waft of dried flowers. Full and firm in the mouth with good expression, it offers chewy tannins and a lively lift to the finish.
WE 92
Wine Enthusiast
This wine is juicy, structured and high toned, with elegant flavors of red cherry and cassis. High powered, it has contrasting notions of dried herb, clove and black pepper that play well against the fruit and a gritty oaky texture.

Follow Napa Valley's Route 29 north to Calistoga, and then keep going just 2 1/2 more miles. You'll arrive at the pinnacle of the Napa Valley - the northernmost wedge where the Vaca mountain range meets the Mayacamas range. Here you will also find Bennett Lane Winery, sitting snugly at the edge of its own well-maintained Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard.

One of the most prestigious wines of the world capable of great power and grace, Napa Valley Cabernet is a leading force in the world of fine, famous, collectible red wine. Today the Napa Valley and Cabernet Sauvignon are so intrinsically linked that it is difficult to discuss one without the other. But it wasn’t until the 1970s that this marriage came to light; sudden international recognition rained upon Napa with the victory of the Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars 1973 Cabernet Sauvignon in the 1976 Judgement of Paris.

Cabernet Sauvignon undoubtedly dominates Napa Valley today, covering half of the land under vine, commanding the highest prices per ton and earning the most critical acclaim. Cabernet Sauvignon’s structure, acidity, capacity to thrive in multiple environs and ability to express nuances of vintage make it perfect for Napa Valley where incredible soil and geographical diversity are found and the climate is perfect for grape growing. Within the Napa Valley lie many smaller sub-AVAs that express specific characteristics based on situation, slope and soil—as a perfect example, Rutherford’s famous dust or Stags Leap District's tart cherry flavors.
