Barr Hill Vodka
Distiller Notes
Barr Hill Vodka offers a creamy mouthfeel and notes of vanilla and wildflowers. This vodka is a tribute to the hardworking beekeepers. In late summer, they take delivery of hundreds of barrels of their pure raw honey. Their season's work is what makes this vodka truly special. The recipe depends on two simple principles: never heat the honey prior to fermentation and never distill more than twice. This technique preserves the wild yeast and the rich aromatics of nectar - delivering the floral depth of wildflower fields straight to your glass.

This craft distillery is located in Montpelier, Vermont and inspired by the views from atop the Barr Hill Nature Preserve. Caledonia Spirits was founded on a vision to support working landscapes and local agriculture by making Barr Hill craft spirits from regional raw materials. Their mindful approach to distilling is influenced by Vermont's working landscape and the four seasons that so strongly define our place. The fermentation process captures the natural variation of wild yeast. With custom built stills that reflect their do-it-yourself ethos, their distillers skillfully select the heart of each batch. Raw honey is the distinguishing ingredient in each of our spirits, imparting a soft and subtle essence of wildflower nectars. To sip these spirits is to be transported to a wild place on the fringe of field and forest – this is Landcrafted.

Made from the distillation of anything containing fermentable sugars, Straight Vodka is a clear and unaged spirit. Cereal grains like wheat, rye and barley are the most commonly used bases, but modern Vodkas are now made from crops as diverse as sugar beets, grapes and potatoes. Ideally Straight Vodkas should be colorless, odorless and flavorless. They are sipped chilled and neat, or used as a base for a variety of cocktails, from the Martini to the Cosmopolitan.
