Winemaker Notes

The 2013 “Townsend Vineyard” is a deliciously pure Cabernet Sauvignon that has a ripe and juicy expression of dark berry, currant, espresso and mocha. The wine is supported by firm tannins that provide greater depth and with lingering flavors that surge past the wine’s gentle texture giving a wonderful persistence on the palate.

Professional Ratings

Aromas of blueberry, wet earth and terrracotta. Some dried herbs and pistachios. Full body, silky tannins and a fresh and clean finish. Pretty lemon rind undertone. Long and flavorful. Better in 2018.
  • 91
This is a dark, black and brooding wine, full bodied and firmly impacted in tannin. Mountain sage, currant and mocha highlight dense ripe fruit and dustiness that linger with a spiciness of clove on the finish.

Antica Winery Video

ANTICA is a symbol for Antinori California and expresses in Italian our family's passion for winemaking passed along 26 generations.

Napa Valley has a special place in my heart beginning with my first visit in 1966, having the free spirit coming from a new frontier, a wonderful history, and the potential to produce world-class wines.

Our wine estate is located on a high plain in the eastern mountains of the celebrated Napa Valley. Its hilly terrain, rocky soils, high elevations and beautiful landscape create above all an estate ideal for winegrowing.

One of the most prestigious wines of the world capable of great power and grace, Napa Valley Cabernet is a leading force in the world of fine, famous, collectible red wine. Today the Napa Valley and Cabernet Sauvignon are so intrinsically linked that it is difficult to discuss one without the other. But it wasn’t until the 1970s that this marriage came to light; sudden international recognition rained upon Napa with the victory of the Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars 1973 Cabernet Sauvignon in the 1976 Judgement of Paris.

Cabernet Sauvignon undoubtedly dominates Napa Valley today, covering half of the land under vine, commanding the highest prices per ton and earning the most critical acclaim. Cabernet Sauvignon’s structure, acidity, capacity to thrive in multiple environs and ability to express nuances of vintage make it perfect for Napa Valley where incredible soil and geographical diversity are found and the climate is perfect for grape growing. Within the Napa Valley lie many smaller sub-AVAs that express specific characteristics based on situation, slope and soil—as a perfect example, Rutherford’s famous dust or Stags Leap District's tart cherry flavors.
