Winemaker Notes
The 2019 Rose is a youthful pale pink Vin Gris. Eniticing aromas of white peach, orange zest, acacia flower and sugar cookies on the nose. Peach, melon, and guava delight the mid-palate with wonderfully bright acidity. A soft, silky finish of plum, brown sugar, and melon.

COMMENTARY: The 2019 Aerena Rosé is bright and sassy. TASTING NOTES: This wine shows up to enhance and not to dominate the moment. Enjoy is zesty dried strawberry and wild raspberry aromas and flavors. Pair its perkiness with seared sea scallops in a pink wine reduction sauce. (Tasted: May 22, 2020, San Francisco, CA)

Whether it’s playful and fun or savory and serious, most rosé today is not your grandmother’s White Zinfandel, though that category remains strong. Pink wine has recently become quite trendy, and this time around it’s commonly quite dry. Since the pigment in red wines comes from keeping fermenting juice in contact with the grape skins for an extended period, it follows that a pink wine can be made using just a brief period of skin contact—usually just a couple of days. The resulting color depends on grape variety and winemaking style, ranging from pale salmon to deep magenta.
A large Northern California appellation centered on the San Francisco Bay Area, the San Francisco Bay AVA falls within the larger Central Coast AVA. The smaller appellations of Livermore Valley, Pacheco Pass, San Ysidro District and Santa Clara Valley AVAs fall within the San Francisco Bay boundaries, and all produce high-quality Central Coast wines.
